Looky here what we have! There’s kids t-shirts and poster designs to start with and soon we will have other items as well. We are stocking our first Shopify storefront as these words are bing typed! We’ve started with the kid size T-shirts and we’ll be adding adult sizes as well. We have Econo items and Deluxe items to accommodate most every budget. In the planning stages is to add decals, transfers, posters, caps, mugs, water bottles, and many other itesm we are considering as well.

Yesterday we uploaded printing files for the much anticipated, first issue of Adventures of Men & Angels! This will a regular size full color comic available online initially and through other outlets soon thereafter. Every effort is being made, all options are on the table and we are looking at doing maybe one or two other formats as well. There is a ashcan or digest size seriously under consideration. We’ve actually already done a single ashcan on our studio color printer and it’s a peach!

There is also a possible Patreon or Kickstarter program on the drawing board. That’s right, for those of you who want to get in on the ground floor and be a part of launching not only Adventures of Men & Angels but other titles for Resolute Comics.

Since this latest book project began there has been a lot development ongoing as the story and art for the first issue has been in production. A lot of ideas have been updated over and over in an effort to give the audience the absolute best story we can do. Art, logos even production techniques have been under constance revision. I intended to do more web blog updates but the work on the story and art as well as life in general prohibited my intentions from becoming reality. This has been slow work  for me since it’s not yet able to generate an income. My full time work has to come first which keeps food on the table for my family. But also one thing I did not want to do was get so far along and not be able to complete the first issue. It had been a while since I’ve done comic book work when I started this project. A lot has changed and there has been a re-learning curve in doing things mostly digital. But it’s a real blast learning!  So the idea was to do slow development and not to actually start promotion until the book was complete. That included the website. So there have been updates spaced apart by months but that is about to change and everything will begin to get more consistently updated as we move into the promotions stage of the project. The first issue is complete and I’m working on the merchandise as well as streamlining the web site in preparation for the first issue launch. Still a lot to do but the goal is on the horizon now.

So hang in there, faithful ones! I hope to make it worth your wait.  I appreciate your patience in the large gaps of time in between posts.

Previously we talked about jumping into a story at points farther into the tale rather than starting at the beginning. Then allowing the exposition of the characters and narrator to fill in the details of how we got to this point. Today we see more of that method of story telling  while the drama of the current situation escalates.

Credit where credit is due: Lest I forget again, you may have noticed the credit box on page 1. While I am to blame for the plot, story, penciling, inking, coloring and lettering, I had the much needed help in editing and proof reading the finished script from friend and fellow creator Leonardo Rimirez. Without his help the finished project would not have made as much sense, nor would it have had the same polish. Mr. Rimirez is no stranger to the printed page. He is a screenwriter and an award-winning author of science fiction, fantasy and graphic novels. His work: THE JUPITER CHRONICLES was a semi-finalist in the “New Voices in Animation” contest and is currently in the top 18% on Coverfly. Page 1 starts the story with a healthy dose mystery, drama and action! This scene is not the beginning. In the original draft there was several pages leading up to this point in our tale. But rather than bore you with a lot of details at the beginning, we cut to the chase got right to the fun! In doing so, the use of exposition in the character dialog has been put to use to fill in the details of how they arrived at this point in the story as we go. A tried and true method of story telling used back in the hey day of comics.

Please note: this is the preview of our forthcoming, fully inked, and colored comic book saga! The finished art is like 3-D compared to the pencils seen here but the sketched pages have a charm all their own. In future posts we may examine the original pencil art of each page which is often sought out by collectors and  aspiring artists. We’ll also talk about the process of how all this came together in more detail.

This is introduction preview featuring art and dialog of the Prologue (Pages 1-12) for the first issue coming soon! Watch for it!

To introduce the story I used a scripture from Revelation and illustrated the action. To give the intro a bit more drama and weight I wanted it to look ancient so rather than inking this page I used my favorite photo editing software to give it a sepia look, like parchment. I designed the panel borders to look somewhat like a scroll.

I channeled inspiration from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s mid sixties Mighty Thor series when they were at their peak. I can’t really do an decent imitation of Lee or Kirby’s styles but I endeavor to capture the flavor of action and drama their work conveyed.

Welcome to the preview of Resolution Comics new series!

This special, black & white, sneak peek has an added bonus: a look behind the scenes with commentary on our forthcoming series! Here then is a tease to whet your allegorical appetite, for a story about human relationships. BUT that’s not all! We also have a parallel story taking place in the Unseen Realm, the domain which has influenced events in our human world  from the beginning of time. It is supernatural world  of angels and demons!

The inspiration for Adventures of Men & Angels derives from the grand tradition of comic stories of the ‘60’s & ’70’s. So the stories of my childhood have been a springboard to entertain and inspire the young and young at heart of today as the adventures I read back then did for me. 

I also want readers today to know they have a choice. Too much of today’s literature only offer a confusing, dark, damning, and hopeless philosophy of life. Why not espouse, rather than vilify, heroic values? As a believer in the Lord of Life, my intention is not to indoctrinate but rather to spin thrilling yarns that energize the reader! So if after reading this book, you find yourself feeling more optimistic, then you have discovered the freedom to think and believe different. Don’t let that scare you, it’s a good thing!  Go with it!

At this writing it is Christmas Eve 2024!  Where does the time go? It seems like such a short time ago we were celebrating Christmas 2023. But here we are again! Thanksgiving and Christmas are our favorite times of the year around here. So let us extend a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to one and all!

The Angel Project, as it is sometimes referred to, has been in serious development for about a year and six months. That  doesn’t count the over thirty years of on and off development since the original conception. It has changed a lot over time.

The first members were all human like for the most part. It was not until 2023 that the idea was conceived for the Four Living Beings (Revelation 4:6, New Living Translation) based characters. Some elements were carried over to the modern version but most is just part of the evolutionary history of our celestial saga!

We are nearing the launch date for the series. The plans are for a preview pencil edition first, then the fully inked and colored #1 collectors edition. We have some merchandise in the way of posters and t-shirts nearly ready for sell as well. Watch this space for details forthcoming. AoM&A Number 1 Synopsis

Glenda and Paul Lawson had not even been married a whole year. As financial crisis mounted, Paul, a rookie policeman,  was suspended without pay pending investigations into an incident. Overwhelmed by all this, in tears, Glenda ran away only to find herself stranded and being stalked in a deserted, rundown part of the city. She might well have been robbed and murdered if not for a blinding light striking down her assailant in the nick of time. Mystified by the miraculous intervention she then briefly glimpses what could only have been an angel and demon battling each other. Paul likewise miraculously survives a life threatening event of his own.

Unknown to the couple, for equally mystifying reasons, the couple have become the target of a criminal cartel as well as its demon masters. Angels have been divinely dispatched on their behalf.

Paul accepts an offer of a job from his old police academy instructor to train as a special agent at the new, prestigious university known as Quantum Tech.

Then things get even more interesting…!

AoM&A Number 2 Synopsis

Paul Lawson, has to go to court to resolve the issue which placed him on suspension from the police force before he can go on his first assignment. After training for several weeks, he is ready to be dispatched. Paul looks for resolution in the court and his first assignment which he believes will pave the way for reconciliation with his wife.

A large Human Trafficking and Drug Ring has been infiltrated after many months of investigation as the new administration has started its war campaign against the Criminal Cartels empowered by the Border Invasion. Eagle Ranger Lawson, assisted by ARCH (Artificial Remote Cognitive Helper) and several ARCH Clone Drones, surrounds the compound the traffickers are reportedly holding several hundred slaves.

Unknown to their human wards, the angels Manuel and Oxel are patrolling the supernatural realm in conjunction with the surveillance of the Slave Compound and run into a supernatural ambush!

Also unknown the Eagle Ranger and his drone squadron, the Traffickers have had some surveillance of their own. But there is growing disillusion with one member of the cartel which could produce instability in their organization. Who will gain the upper hand?

Lionel and Eagel watch over Glenda and her Grandmother and see suspicious activity by enemy forces which could cause further division between Paul and his estranged wife.

AoM&A Number 3 Introduction

Who or what is Quantum Mechan-X? Eagle Ranger Lawson, continues training at Quantum Tech A.K.A. the Alfonso Evermore Technical Institute (AETI) with the group of scientists, adventurers, teachers and explorers lead by Professor Evermore, a genius on par with Einstein.  Together with his crew, they have made great advancements in Cosmology, Nuclear Fusion, Chemistry, Quantum Physics, Medicine, Bionics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering and a score of other fields. Their greatest achievement is the discovery and harnessing of a new enigmatic technology and the creation of the a.i. drone known as ARCH which utilizes the resource.

Eagle Rangers is a special unit of the US Marshals Service. Formally a career police officer in a large city Lawson was caught up in politics after an incident on the job which resulted in his suspension pending investigation. However, the teacher from his police academy days, familiar with his record, decided to take a chance. Captain Malachi Jones , now part of the Eagle Rangers Project,  offered Lawson a job to test a special armored police uniform and gear to be worn by a new line of law enforcement. Eagle Ranger is a prototype for the 21st century police officer.

Quantum Mechan-X – a group of scientists, adventurers, teachers and explorers lead by Prof. Evermore, a genius on par with Einstein. His crew, affectionately referred to as The Quantum Mechan-X are some of foremost experts in their fields. They have made great advancements in Cosmology, Nuclear Fusion, Chemistry, Quantum Physics, Medicine, Bionics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering and a score of other fields. Their greatest achievement is the discovery and harnessing of the fundamental principal “Quantum Mechan-X” and the creation of the a.i. holo-drone known as A.R.C.H. (Arch) which utilizes the aforementioned principal resource. They are the teachers and executives of a small but prominent, university: The Alfonso Evermore Technical Institute (AETI) aka Quantum Tech.

Sure, why not? Angels have appeared in novels, movies, and television movies and series for decades. Artists have imagined these beings in paintings for hundreds of years. While angels have been portrayed in comics from time to time, it is unlikely that they have been depicted exactly as they are in Adventures of Men & Angels. Our Angelic Four play a prominent role in the story but we would hesitate to call them the stars of the book. They act as, more or less, hosts. They dominated the first issue of the series, but you will get to see more in issue two about the human characters in the tale. The storyline will continue to be a story within a story. We’ll see what the human characters are doing as well as the unseen characters in the angelic realm and how the two stories work together as one dramatic saga a lot like a team book. So fear not! Much celestial and human action will abound!

A Cow as an Angel? Some may scratch their heads at the appearance of these angels. But the Holy Bible describes some angels which do not look human. The books of Ezekiel and Isaiah, have references to four angelic “living creatures.” There are references to angels, cherubim and seraphim in other Old Testament books as well. The book of Hebrews, in the New Testament, references the gold castings on top of the Ark of the Covenant as cherubim. The book of Revelation refers to similar creatures as “four beasts,” directly linking them to the Old Testament. Depending on the references, some may be literal beings while others are symbolic and some may be both! The context has to be studied to determine the use.

The Resolute Comics Angelic Four are fictional, inspired, composite characters based loosely on Bible references. Make no mistake, these four are original products of our imaginations as to what angelic warriors might look, speak and act like.
